Most motorcycle mufflers have a copper or bimetallic expansion ring in the head end of the unit (the front of the muffler). The Supertrapps (super craps) we used when I was on the Panzer Motor Works (re-pop HD panheads) prototype team had the expansion ring. As I remember, the ring lasted a very short period of time, no more than a month or so of in-house system testing.
I wouldn't use the supertrapp myself, although it is one of the better sounding bike mufflers. If you are going just for the tone as opposed to the fairly stock look, get a 29.95 USD megaphone muffler from JC Whitney and be done with it. They only last a year or two, but the ST is how much more for the same poor quality???...
